Group Terms and Conditions

The Inverness Castle Experience is operated by High Life Highland on behalf of The Highland Council.

Bookings, Tickets and Admission

  • Group visits and the services of a meet and greet host are available only to pre-booked groups of 20 or more paying people visiting at the same date and time.

  • Complimentary admission for one group organiser or one driver per group is available only to groups with 8 or more paying people.

  • Tickets purchased for pre-booked groups cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers or discounts.

  • Tickets purchased for pre-booked groups are non-transferable and non-refundable.

  • Additional tickets may be purchased on the day of your visit up to the maximum available in your slot when offered. If you are unsure of Terms and Conditions, please email: groups@invernesscastle.scot.

  • Tickets are valid only for the date and time booked unless expressly agreed otherwise.

  • Refunds, exchanges and amendments are subject to The Inverness Castle Experience Booking Terms and Conditions.

  • In exceptional circumstances where The Inverness Castle Experience cancels a visit or is unable to provide the booked experience, visitors will be offered an alternative date, exchange or refund as appropriate.

  • Admission may be refused where tickets are invalid, altered, duplicated or reasonably suspected of being obtained fraudulently.

  • Your booking will be confirmed when The Inverness Castle Experience Group Bookings Team has received your signed copy of the Terms and Conditions.

  • The Inverness Castle Experience Group Bookings team will confirm your booking details within 7 calendar days of receiving your booking form.

  • Amendments to your booking may be made up to 14 calendar days prior to your visit by contacting The Inverness Castle Experience Group Bookings team.

  • Prior to your visit to The Inverness Castle Experience, you will be notified of arrival and departure times for your group.  If your group arrives before your allocated time, you will be asked to wait offsite until the scheduled arrival time. If your group arrives after your scheduled arrival time, you will be advised of alternative time slots, subject to availability.

  • The Inverness Castle Experience provides a coach drop-off point for groups, located on Castle Street, Inverness. Once you have dropped off your group, you will be required to move on from the drop-off area and park your vehicle. We recommend Torvean Car Park, which operates on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

  • Externally guided private tours are not permitted on site.

  • Where possible, we will endeavour to accommodate tours arriving up to 15 minutes after the allocated arrival time. We reserve the right to refuse entry in the event of excessive lateness.

  • Only assistance animals are allowed on site. No pets allowed.

  • The Inverness Castle Experience reserves the right to refuse entry.

  • The Inverness Castle Experience is a working site and as such short-notice closures and changes arising from activities on site may be experienced, including the temporary closure of exhibits. This may result in adjustments to your visit, including scheduled timings. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and we will endeavour to contact all visitors with as much notice as possible in such situations.


Closures, Disruptions and Force Majeure

  • Provisional bookings will be held for 7 calendar days, within which time we require a signed copy of our Terms and Conditions document to be returned. After this time, your provisional booking will be cancelled if we have not received your signed terms and conditions.  

  • You may cancel your booking up to 14 calendar days prior to your visit without penalty. We ask that you confirm cancellations via email to groups@invernesscastle.scot.

  • If you cancel your visit within 14 days of your booked visit, full payment will be required.

  • If payment is made before the Terms and Conditions document has been signed and returned to The inverness Castle Experience Group Bookings team, we will accept payment as agreement of our Terms and Conditions, and the conditions stated in them will be honoured.

  • The Inverness Castle Experience reserves the right to alter opening times, close areas of the attraction, amend exhibits or cancel events where reasonably necessary for operational, maintenance, safety, security or regulatory reasons.

    We shall not be liable for delays, cancellations, interruptions or changes caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, public health measures, utility failures, industrial disputes, acts of terrorism or other force majeure events. Where disruption materially affects a pre-booked visit, we will seek to offer a suitable alternative where practicable.


Payment

  • An invoice will be issued on the day of your visit for the numbers that have been confirmed 14 days prior to your booking.

  • All invoices must be paid no later than 30 calendar days after your visit.

  • If the group number decreases after numbers confirmed, no refund will be given.


Health, Safety and Accessibility

  • Visitors must comply with all safety notices and staff instructions.

  • Certain areas contain stairs, elevated viewpoints and uneven surfaces. Visitors should take reasonable care for their own safety and that of those in their care.

  • We are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive visitor experience and will make reasonable adjustments where practicable.

  • Visitors with specific accessibility requirements are encouraged to contact us in advance of their visit.


Complaints Process

Any concerns regarding a group visit should first be raised with the Duty Manager during the visit where possible.

Formal complaints should be submitted in writing within 28 days of the visit and will be handled through High Life Highland's complaints process. Please using our Contact Us page to start the process.


Children and Safeguarding

  • Children aged 15 and under must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

  • Schools, youth groups and organised visits remain responsible for appropriate supervision ratios throughout their visit.

  • Any safeguarding concerns should be reported immediately to a member of staff.


Photography, Filming and Intellectual Property

  • Visitors may take photographs and videos for personal, non-commercial use unless otherwise indicated.

  • Commercial photography, filming, recording, broadcasting or content creation for promotional purposes requires prior written permission.

  • All intellectual property rights relating to exhibitions, displays, branding and interpretation materials remain the property of Inverness Castle Experience, High Life Highland or the relevant rights holder.


Data Protection

Personal information provided during booking or enquiries will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

High Life Highland has an obligation to protect your personal data. Liability

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where such exclusion is not permitted by law.

Subject to this, The Inverness Castle Experience shall not be liable for:

  • loss or damage to personal belongings unless caused by our negligence;

  • indirect or consequential loss;

  • losses arising from visitor failure to follow safety instructions or these Terms and Conditions.

Visitors enter the site at their own risk and are responsible for their personal property.

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of Scotland and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
