Hazel Shares Her Favourite Parts of a Family Day Out at The Inverness Castle Experience

Nine-year-old Hazel recently visited The Inverness Castle Experience with her friends and family. During their visit, they explored Cuillin's Garden Trail, a free outdoor activity for children and families running until 31 August.

Fun in the Castle Garden

"I had a really fun time at The Inverness Castle Experience. The bit I liked most about Cuillin's Garden Trail was the scavenger hunt.

We were asked to find an insect and some purple flowers. I loved watching the bees buzzing around the catmint. We also had a great view of the whole city and the River Ness while we were exploring the gardens.

One of the challenges was to find a sculpture. I liked looking closely at the statue of Flora MacDonald and spotting all the little details.

Inside The Experience

After the Garden Trail, we went inside the Inverness Castle Experience. My favourite part was going up to the rooftop terrace and looking at the beautiful view across Inverness.

I also enjoyed using the headphones and listening to Cuillin the dog talking about the castle.

Another part I really loved was the Spirit Room. There was a message hidden around the tree that we had to decode. My mum helped a bit, and my friends and I worked it out together. It was really fun trying to solve it.

If you complete Cuillin's Garden Trail, you can collect a certificate from the Castle Shop. If you have a ticket for The Inverness Castle Experience, there's also a bonus Cuillin question inside. If you get the answer right, you receive a Cuillin sticker, which I thought was really cool!

It was a really fun day out, and I think other children and families would enjoy it too."
