A Sweet Way to Explore: 5 Ice Cream Spots at The Inverness Castle Experience 🍦

There’s a new reason to linger a little longer outdoors at The Inverness Castle Experience - our ice cream pod is now open in the gardens, serving delicious, locally made tubs from Loch Ness Ice Cream.

Crafted in the heart of the Highlands by a family-run business, this high-quality ice cream is best enjoyed slowly… ideally from one of the many nooks, crannies, terraces and viewpoints around the Castle grounds.

Here are five of the best spots to savour every scoop:

1. The Journey Stone Monument

Start with a selfie and an ice cream! A great meeting point at the entrance to the Castle Gardens, before wandering off to explore nearby pathways and viewpoints with glimpses over the city and river.

2. A Quiet Garden Nook

Find a bench tucked away among the landscaping - perfect for slowing down and enjoying a moment of calm with ice cream in hand.

3. River View Terrace

Take in views across Inverness and beyond - a standout spot for pairing Highland scenery with a Highland treat.

4. By the Flora MacDonald Statue

Pause beside this iconic Highland figure and enjoy a blend of heritage, storytelling and something sweet.

5. A Seldom-Found spot on Ness View Terrace

A mini challenge to find your own quiet corner before settling in with your ice cream.

As well as being a sweet treat, the ice cream pod is another way we’re supporting local suppliers and celebrating the best of the Highlands. Loch Ness Ice Cream is a family-run business based right here in the region, and working together helps reduce food miles while supporting the local economy - something that’s important to us.

So, whether you find your favourite terrace, a quiet corner, or take on the challenge of discovering a hidden viewpoint, there’s no better way to enjoy the gardens than with a true taste of the Highlands.
