Stories from Castle Hill: The Highlands at War
Fri 9 Apr 2027
11:30–12:30
From the Lovat Scouts to the Special Military Area: The Highlands at war. Join Highland Archive Service Community Engagement Officer Lorna Steele-McGinn for a series of illustrated history talks focusing on both the everyday and the seismic events which have shaped the story and the image of Inverness and the wider Highlands.
It was the skills and experience of Highland gamekeepers that led to the creation of the Lovat Scouts during the Boer War. It was the specific terrain of Lochaber that made the area perfect for training commandos during WWII. No wonder a large swathe of the Highlands was repeatedly designated a special military area…
Tea, coffee and a scone are included.
Please note: Your event ticket does not include access to the main Experience.
