Crime, Punishment and Witchcraft

This Halloween, discover a darker side of Scottish history at The Inverness Castle Experience.

Join The Witches of Scotland, Claire Mitchell KC and Zoe Venditozzi, authors of To Kill a Witch, as they uncover the disturbing reality of Scotland's witch trials. Building on themes of folklore, belief and storytelling touched on throughout The Inverness Castle Experience, this fascinating talk examines the accusations, interrogations, trials and brutal punishments inflicted on almost 4,000 people between 1563 and 1736, many of them women accused of crimes they could never have committed.

Through fascinating research, sharp wit and compelling storytelling, discover how suspicion became accusation, accusation became crime, and crime could lead to the ultimate punishment.

A thought-provoking afternoon of crime, punishment, witchcraft and justice, with a haunting question: could it happen again?
