The search begins for pivotal role at new Highland Visitor Experience

Today marks the exciting launch of a recruitment campaign to find the ‘Head of Inverness Castle Experience’, a role giving the unique opportunity to shape the future of a new landmark visitor attraction set to open in summer 2025.

This world-class attraction will celebrate the rich ‘Spirit of the Highlands’—past, present, and future—through interactive and immersive experiences. It aims to attract visitors locally, from across the UK, and internationally, establishing itself as the gateway to the Highlands.

The ‘Head of Inverness Castle Experience’ will collaborate closely with the project team, steering the project from pre-opening preparations through to full operation. Key responsibilities include building a dynamic team, readying the site to welcome visitors, and building positive connections within the local community.

There is a commitment to excellence in every aspect of the design and build of the Inverness Castle Experience, and this commitment extends to the employment of the team, starting with this role.  The successful candidate will have the ability and confidence to lead this exciting business into its next chapter.

Fergus Ewing, MSP and Co-chair of the Inverness Castle Delivery Group, stated: "We are not only seeking a visionary leader to manage the operations of a word-class visitor attraction here in the Highlands, but also someone who’s experience can ensure that every visitor's journey is exceptional and unforgettable."

Cllr Ian Brown, Leader of Inverness City and Area and Co-chair of the Inverness Castle Delivery Group, said: "We are thrilled to reach this pivotal point in our project where the search begins to find an outstanding leader with a proven track record in delivering exceptional visitor experiences.”

"We are seeking someone with a deep passion for the Highlands, combined with an innovative vision and strong leadership skills. Their expertise and dedication will be essential in enabling the team to provide an unparalleled experience."

The Inverness Castle project is part of the Inverness and Highland City-Region Deal, which is a joint initiative supported by up to £315m investment from the UK and Scottish governments, The Highland Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and University of the Highlands and Islands, aimed at stimulating sustainable regional economic growth.
